With hyperpigmentation treatment, we can treat skin discolouration, which appears darker or lighter than your overall complexion. Pigmentation can appear in the form of very intense freckles or as small or large discoloured patches of skin.

Usually affecting the epidermal layer, hyperpigmentation occurs when the cells responsible for creating melanin become unhealthy or are damaged. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment is a fast and effective way to treat hyperpigmentation that presents itself with freckles or small sun spots by reducing it or removing it altogether, whereas larger patchy pigmentation is better treated using prescription skincare at home alongside in clinic skin peels.

Pain-Free Pigmentation Reduction
Comfort and safety are very important to us. A cooling system is built into our IPL equipment to minimise any possible uncomfortable sensations such as blistering or overheating. Skin Peels may feel a little warm however are not painful.

All our hyperpigmentation treatment in Staffordshire starts with a meeting between you and our highly skilled Aesthetician for a face to face consultation. We will examine the issue and address your individual case thoroughly. Our skin specialists will then specify which pigmentation treatment would suit you the best to achieve the fastest possible results.

Our Step By Step Guide To Treatments

Step 1:
Consultation
Nothing is more important to us than your health and wellbeing. During your initial consultation for pigmentation removal, we will discuss your medical history to be sure of any contraindications. This appointment provides a great opportunity to ask us any questions you may have, too.
Discuss your pigmentation treatment at length
Share your skin worries and goals
Rule out adverse reactions with patch test
Step 2:
During Your Treatment
During an IPL procedure a handheld device will be used to pulse broad wavelength light onto the treatment area. The skin captures and absorbs the energy in the light, transforming it into heat which causes the pigmentation to break down. During a skin peel treatment a blend of acids tailored to break down pigmentation is applied and left for a number of minutes before being removed and treatment serums and Harley Skincare SPF applied.

How Long Does It Take Hyperpigmentation to Fade? Keep in mind that hyperpigmentation does not always fade. Even with treatment, some hyperpigmentation will be permanent. Without any treatment at all, it can take 3 to 24 months to see improvement
All cases of hyperpigmentation are worsened by sun exposure, so proper sun care is an absolute essential. Wearing a daily broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above is the best way to keep uneven pigmentation at bay. Protective clothing such as sun hats and sunglasses should also be worn to enhance protection, and you should aim to seek out shade wherever possible. For those who are prone to blemishes, it’s important not to pick at the skin. Even when an extraction is performed correctly, it can still deepen the inflammation of a pimple increasing the likelihood of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Topical treatments include hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream, GA, and trichloroacetic acid. Skin whitening products are used for clinical treatment of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Hyperpigmentation is a medical term used to describe darker patches of skin. These patches result from excess melanin production, which can be caused by everything from acne scars and sun damage to hormone fluctuations. If you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation, know that you aren’t alone
